Cooling Tower Water Balance Equations

Wet cooling towers reject massive quantities of waste heat by evaporating a small fraction of circulating water. Because pure water vapor escapes while dissolved minerals (calcium, silica, chlorides) remain behind, mineral concentration increases. Blowdown water must be discarded to maintain salinity within scaling thresholds.

Standard Mass Balance Relations

E = 0.00085 · Q_circ · ΔT_range
B = E / (CoC - 1)
M = E + B + D
