Highway Engineering
AASHTO H-20 loading specifies a minimum of 12 inches of compacted granular fill over flexible thermoplastic (HDPE/PVC) or corrugated metal pipes. If the roadside ditch is shallow, the driveway road approach must be humped/crowned upward to prevent delivery trucks from deforming the culvert crown.
