Sandblasting is the single most air-hungry process in any workshop. While a 1/2" impact wrench consumes 5 CFM intermittently, an abrasive blast nozzle is a continuous open orifice dumping compressed air at supersonic speeds.

The 4-CFM-per-Horsepower Rule
