Frequently Asked Questions

Can I return unopened boxes of flooring to the store?

Most home improvement retailers accept returns of unopened boxes within 30–90 days. However, professional flooring installers recommend retaining at least one full unopened box in your garage or attic. If a plank gets scratched or damaged by a plumbing leak years later, matching the dye lot and locking click mechanism will be nearly impossible.

Why is an expansion gap required around the perimeter of floating floors?

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and laminate floors expand and contract as room temperature and humidity fluctuate. Leaving a 1/4" to 3/8" gap between the floor and wall studs (concealed by baseboards or quarter round) prevents the floor from buckling, peaking at seams, or tenting in the center of the room.
